Integrated Braking Control for Electric Vehicles with In-Wheel Propulsion and Fully Decoupled Brake-by-Wire System

This paper introduces a case study on the potential of new mechatronic chassis systems for battery electric vehicles, in this brake-by-wire (BBW) system and in-wheel propulsion rear axle combined with an integrated control providing common safety features like anti-lock braking (ABS), enhanced functionalities, torque blending. The presented controller was intended to also show continuous strategies regard active safety, vehicle stability driving comfort. Therefore, integral sliding mode (ISM) proportional (PI) were used wheel slip (WSC) benchmarked against each other classical rule-based approach. realized MatLab/Simulink tested under real-time conditions IPG CarMaker simulation environment experimentally validated models target its systems. contains robust observers estimation non-measurable states parameters e.g., mass or road grade, which can have significant influence performance safety.
